About the role
Performs a wide range of professional work in the specialized areas of cost center and Student Activity Fund accounting.
Essential Duties
- Provides initial training of new principals and bookkeepers
- Develops and provides periodic training workshops for applicable school personnel
- Provides ongoing accounting support to principals, bookkeepers and other applicable staff, including site visits when necessary
- Performs monthly monitoring of Student Activity Fund financial reports identifying any weaknesses and communicating with department and school administration to develop corrective action plan
- Guides and assists with year-end closing of Student Activity Fund accounting records
- Prepares annual reports on Student Activity Funds for State reporting and for external audit
- Maintains the Student Activity Fund Accounting Procedures Manual
- Maintains and/or implements Student Activity Fund accounting software
- Compiles school-based data for the issuance of Federal Form 1099 annually
- Performs monthly Student Activity Fund bank reconciliations
- Affords assistance with day-to-day operations including: Phone calls/emails/faxes, Mail distribution, Filing, Generating training documents/presentations, Serving as a subject matter expert for Student Activity Funds and cost center accounting
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a related field required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
- Demonstrated working knowledge of both cost center and Student Activity Fund accounting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (in-depth knowledge of Student Activity Fund software a plus)
- Excellent keyboarding, writing, and mathematical skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel and work with diverse groups of people
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
