Specialist Environment

Purpose of Job

The Environmental Specialist – This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive regulatory compliance program for air, waste, water, or groundwater compliance related aspects at the Lake Charles Chemicals Complex (LCCC).

Key Accountabilities

• Works as the single point of contact for the Business Units in environmental responsibilities
• Maintains a consistent understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
• Manages projects involving additional professional level contract employees that may include field crews and field activities
• Develops, implements, and manages permit compliance and/or remediation strategies
• Develops training materials and interfaces with the Training Department to train personnel
• Provides necessary services to Business Units to support regulatory compliance
• Works in a team setting on complex issues and effectively reaches end goals
• Buils and maintains good working relationships with regulatory agencies and acts as a liaison during agency inspections
• Represents the company in trade associations

Required Education

Formal Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field

Required Certification

Certified Environmental Professional or equivalent certificate preferred

Required Experience

• 3+ years of environmental air compliance/permitting experience within chemical, petrochemical, or other relevant manufacturing industries.

Required Personal and Professional Skills

• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, SAP, applicable reporting systems
• Effective interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and motivate within all levels of the organization
