Specialist Environment
Purpose of Job
The Environmental Specialist – This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive regulatory compliance program for air, waste, water, or groundwater compliance related aspects at the Lake Charles Chemicals Complex (LCCC).
Key Accountabilities
- Works as the single point of contact for the Business Units in environmental responsibilities
- Maintains a consistent understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
- Manages projects involving additional professional level contract employees that may include field crews and field activities
- Develops, implements, and manages permit compliance and/or remediation strategies
- Develops training materials and interfaces with the Training Department to train personnel
- Provides necessary services to Business Units to support regulatory compliance
- Works in a team setting on complex issues and effectively reaches end goals
- Buils and maintains good working relationships with regulatory agencies and acts as a liaison during agency inspections
- Represents the company in trade associations
Required Education
Formal Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
Required Certification
Certified Environmental Professional or equivalent certificate preferred
Required Experience
- 3+ years of environmental air compliance/permitting experience within chemical, petrochemical, or other relevant manufacturing industries.
Required Personal and Professional Skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, SAP, applicable reporting systems
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and motivate within all levels of the organization
