About the role

The Specialist at Tech Hub provides technical support to Vaccine and Biologicals process development for Manufacturing within a multidisciplinary environment. You will cooperate with colleagues at Bioprocess Technology Solutions, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and R&D to deliver all-around technological support on Vaccine and Biologicals Manufacturing of new (R&D) products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale up processes or technologies for microbial, virus, and cell cultivations, biomolecule concentration and purification, and final formulation of veterinary vaccines and therapeutics.
• Transfer processes or technologies to production lines, ensuring they meet customer requirements for safety, quality, cost-efficiency, practical applicability, and consistency.
• Participate in technical investigations, validation, and process improvement projects, examining issues from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people).
• Provide direction for scientifically based decisions within projects aimed at improving products, solving problems, or developing new products, collaborating with teams from QC, Pharmaceutical Technical Support, R&D, Production, or Analytical Technical Services.
• Perform development, introduction, and testing of new technologies as needed.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and other departments to bring new products to market, demonstrating knowledge of current USDA regulatory guidelines and advanced technical expertise.
• Develop project charters and plans, including timelines, deliverables, roles, responsibilities, risk identification, tracking, and mitigation.
• Coordinate and track team activities, communicate project risks and status to stakeholders, and escalate issues as needed.
• Support inspection readiness for new product introductions and transfers in concert with Commercialization, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
• Ensure consistent application of standardized work, engineering, and process tools.
• Conduct and design experimental protocols using Technical Operations lab facilities and/or production equipment at full scale.
• Create and update technical and manufacturing documents for investigations, process design, engineering studies, process demonstrations, change control, and validation.
• Collaborate with peers on-site and globally, contributing to international projects and interacting with scientists across departments and external partners.
• Actively contribute to improvements in department activities, including Environment Health and Safety.
• Train and guide employees and/or trainees.
• Perform off-shift work as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, or Microbiology with 2 years’ experience in vaccine/biopharmaceuticals Research and Development, Process Development, and/or Biological manufacturing (or Master's degree with 1 year of experience or PhD in a related field).

Skills

• Required: Excellent written and oral communication, project management, documentation, and teamwork skills; strong problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach; ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Preferred: Experience in bioprocess scale-up and vaccine manufacturing; working knowledge of USDA regulations and GMP requirements for biological products; understanding of statistics for process monitoring and control.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $87,300.00 - $137,400.00. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business needs.

Schedule

• Regular full-time position.
• May require occasional off-shift work (nights and/or weekends as needed).
• 10% travel requirements.
• Shift: 1st - Day.
