About the Role

Responsible for supporting the Engine Maintenance Section – Reliability Engineering staff in day-to-day department activities to ensure HMMA policies and procedures are carried out, achieving established business goals and objectives in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role involves reliability engineering improvement duties, including planning, scheduling, and designing improvements for tools, engines, machines, and other functioning equipment, as well as overseeing installation, project improvement, preventative maintenance, and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and track cost-saving initiatives.
  • Increase equipment reliability and uptime; develop preventative maintenance strategies and schedules.
  • Manage capital equipment projects.
  • Perform economic evaluation and justification analysis for reliability and maintainability investments.
  • Maintain and manage spare part inventory; prioritize, plan, and procure spare parts; plan for obsolete part replacement; and review cost and reliability savings of substitute part replacements.
  • Eliminate preventable chronic failures through investigation and recommendations to the maintenance crew.
  • Lead countermeasure and improvement activities for equipment failures and difficult-to-diagnose issues.
  • Provide technical training and create lessons for maintenance and engineering personnel to improve skills in designing, evaluating, installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment systems.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
  • Communicate and coordinate directly with contractors and OEMs on all types of projects or issues.
  • Conduct research to test and analyze the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) preferred.
  • 0–10 years of related experience preferred.
  • 10 years of maintenance experience desired.
  • 10 years of programming experience with CNC metal cutting equipment desired.
  • 5 years of experience supervising the improvement and repair of CNC and automated equipment desired.
  • 5 years of controls experience with Siemens, Fanuc, AB, and other controls, with the ability to modify and troubleshoot PLC, CNC, and robotics system programs desired.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software desired.

Additional Information

  • Position may require occasional domestic or foreign travel.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
  • Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
