Specialist, Electrical Engineering (FOS)
About the role
L3Harris Fuzing & Ordnance Systems (L3H FOS) is the largest fuze manufacturer in the United States and is one of the most advanced manufacturers of fuzing and ordnance products in the world.
Responsibilities
- Focus on the design and development of specialized systems and special test equipment for electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical products.
- Extensive analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, data acquisition, filtering/conditioning, printed circuit design, measurement error analysis, and future system-level engineering.
- Utilization of CAE tools such as Altium and SPICE, and laboratory equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc. used to perform circuit design, verification and troubleshooting.
- Working with or creating embedded firmware to control hardware. Working with various serial communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-422, SPI, I2C, etc.
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the year.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to obtain US Security Clearance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in basic analog building blocks including differential amplifiers, op amps, LDOs, filters, and data converters.
- Experience in basic digital building blocks including logic gates, flip flops, timers, and filters.
- Experience with power supply and power conditioning design.
- Experience with power conversion concepts (AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC, Linear and Switching Supplies).
- Experience with serial communication buses including UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Experience with Sensors and Converters (Temperature sensors, accelerometers, differential pressure sensors, gyroscopes, ADCs, DACs, etc.).
- Experience with general design best practices (EMI suppression, ESD protection, and Short circuit protection).
- Experience with module design including component selection, circuit analysis, circuit design, and layout.
- Experience in troubleshooting using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, meters, etc.).
- Experience in modeling and simulation utilities (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).
- Experience in schematic capture and/or board layout utilities (Altium, PADS, etc.).
- Ability to lead a large-scale technical project from start to completion with minimal guidance.
- Proficient in preparing and participating in design reviews (internal and external).
- Skilled in creating Technical Documentation (Engineering Drawings, Calibration Procedures, Validation Procedures, Operating Instructions, etc.).
- Proficient in Engineering Change and Configuration Management processes.
- Skilled in Software Development (C#, VB, .NET, LabVIEW, etc.).
- Skilled in microcontroller and CPLD/FPGA Firmware Development (Embedded C, Verilog, etc.).
- Proficient in Wiring Diagram and Cable Assembly Design

- In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is $92,500 - $171,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $80,500 - $149,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

Pay

Schedule
Employees work 10 hour shifts, 4 days a week.
