Job Overview
The role involves working with the lead diabetes dietitian to develop new treatment pathways for women with gestational diabetes and supporting the specialist diabetes clinics at the Newcastle Diabetes Centre (NDC).
Main Duties of the Job
- Develop new treatment pathways for women with gestational diabetes.
- Support the specialist diabetes clinics at the Newcastle Diabetes Centre (NDC).
- Work with the Diabetes Specialist midwifery team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
- Provide clinical outpatient work in all aspects of specialist diabetes care.
- Engage in multidisciplinary work with doctors, specialist nurses, and midwives.
- Support and train other healthcare professionals, including Specialist midwives.
- Deliver patient education and group education sessions.
- Conduct research, audit, and CPD opportunities.
- Participate in team and multi-disciplinary audit, research, and service improvement work.
- Attend and participate in MDT meetings and dietetic meetings.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance framework and trust values.

Person Specification
- Registered Dietitian with a degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition.
- Post-graduate diploma in Dietetics.
- Specialist training through short courses or validated qualifications.
- Experience in general clinical dietetics.
- Knowledge of Electronic Patient Records.
- Basic training in counselling and/or motivational interviewing.
- Experience in student training.
- Experience of working with wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge.
- Keyboard skills.
- Flexibility, ability to prioritize and organize work.
