Specialist - Data Engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop federated data access solutions using Starburst Trino.
- Build and optimize distributed SQL queries across multiple data sources, data lakes, warehouses, and RDBMS.
- Implement data virtualization strategies to enable unified data access without data movement.
- Collaborate with business and data engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Integrate Starburst with data platforms such as Hadoop Hive, S3, and cloud data services.
- Optimize query performance, resource usage, and workload management.
- Implement security access control and data governance policies.
- Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Starburst clusters.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Starburst Trino and Presto.
- Proficiency in SQL with strong query optimization skills.
- Experience with distributed data architectures and large-scale data processing.
- Understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and federated query engines.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Knowledge of data formats like Parquet, ORC, and Avro.
- Good to have: Experience with Databricks Spark or big data ecosystems, exposure to Python for data processing or automation, familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI for downstream consumption.
- BFSI domain experience, risk, finance, regulatory reporting.
