Specialist - Data Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop federated data access solutions using Starburst Trino.
• Build and optimize distributed SQL queries across multiple data sources, data lakes, warehouses, and RDBMS.
• Implement data virtualization strategies to enable unified data access without data movement.
• Collaborate with business and data engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Integrate Starburst with data platforms such as Hadoop Hive, S3, and cloud data services.
• Optimize query performance, resource usage, and workload management.
• Implement security access control and data governance policies.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Starburst clusters.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Starburst Trino and Presto.
• Proficiency in SQL with strong query optimization skills.
• Experience with distributed data architectures and large-scale data processing.
• Understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and federated query engines.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Knowledge of data formats like Parquet, ORC, and Avro.
• Good to have: Experience with Databricks Spark or big data ecosystems, exposure to Python for data processing or automation, familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI for downstream consumption.
• BFSI domain experience, risk, finance, regulatory reporting.
