Specialist, Application Development Engineer
About the role
The Specialist, Application Development Engineer position is based in Littleton, Colorado, and is part of the Application Innovation Group. This role requires collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and application engineering colleagues worldwide, interfacing with customers to facilitate product development under strict regulatory frameworks including ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100, FDA, FAA, QSR, and MDD.
Responsibilities
- Execute Application Development Engineering Processes: Stay current with medical device, semiconductor, and aerospace/defense regulations.
- Manage individual portfolio of active and pipeline development projects.
- Support sales meetings and trade shows from a technical standpoint.
- Develop, document, and maintain product development and design transfer procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and customer engineering teams to deliver optimal solutions.
- Follow internal procedures for product development and transfer new projects into Manufacturing.
- Report progress and status of projects to the Application Development Engineering Manager of Application Innovation Group (AIG).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field required.
- Minimum 6 years of professional application engineering experience in a regulated, cGMP environment such as medical device, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor.
- Substantial and well-established experience in Additive Manufacturing, specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), or similar technologies.
- Extensive track record preparing L-PBF builds, running simulations, and working on metal additively manufactured components to produce end-use parts that meet customer requirements and timelines.
- Ability to read, interpret, and design engineering specifications across a variety of products and materials.
- Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and demonstrating executive presence with exceptional communication skills.
- Expertise in advanced computer systems, CAD software, and 3D printing platforms, with the ability to leverage cutting-edge digital tools to translate complex client needs into optimized additive manufacturing solutions.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Quality assurance and reliability experience supporting product development and/or manufacturing preferred.
- Experience in a highly regulated environment such as aerospace (AS9100) or medical device (ISO 13485) preferred.

Benefits
Competitive Pay: $135,000 - $155,000 per year. Comprehensive Health & Wellness Plans, including a 401(k) plan with employer matching contribution, and paid leave (US only).

Schedule
This role has an onsite work schedule requiring the person to be in the onsite location 5 days a week.
