About the role
The position is responsible for all activities related to the overall administration of the Accounts Payable process.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate Accounts Payable database and records
- Generate reports, print checks, and file vouchers
- Reviews invoices and payable vouchers for correct coding, sufficient documentation, and authorization
- Researches invoices both paid and unpaid as needed
- Input accounts payable into the accounting system, generate check reports, and mail to vendors
- Reviews expense accounts to ensure invoices have been entered accurately
- Reconciles vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
- Researches and resolves all accounts payable issues
- Aids with month end close
- Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with district policy and accepted accounting practices
- Identifies, extracts, and analyzes vendor payments information for tax reporting for various 1099’s
- Covers correspondence generated with vendors, and initiates follow-up corrective action such as tax withholding, remittance for non-compliant vendors, and other actions to ensure the accuracy of the vendor database, and compliance with IRS regulations
- Performs other responsibilities as required or directed
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related area
- Plus an additional two (2) years related experience, OR a combination of equivalent education and/or paid, exempt level, directly relevant experience for a total of 6 years
- Experience in a school district or local government setting is preferred
