Job Summary
A Special Projects Producer at Griffin Media helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture. This position plays a key role in creating compelling and informative content that addresses specific issues relevant to the community.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in researching and assigning Targeted Special Reports, offering story ideas and maintaining the Special Projects calendar.
- Write special report package scripts, request appropriate graphics and pre-production, and work with graphics/production department.
- Schedule and conduct interviews with key individuals, experts, and community members.
- Work with photographers and reporters to organize shoots for both field and in-studio productions and ensure all aspects of the special projects are executed seamlessly and align with station standards.
- Stay informed on local issues, trends, and topics of interest to develop compelling stories and content for special projects.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
- Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
- 3-5 years of experience in a television newsroom preferred.
- Proven experience in producing news segments or long-format programming in a broadcast environment is a plus.
- Ability to shoot and edit video, or willingness to learn is preferred.
- Familiarity with news production software and editing tools is a plus.
- Strong scriptwriting and storytelling skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to fast-paced news environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of local issues and community interests in Oklahoma including history and geography is a plus.
- Understanding of local, state, and national politics.
