TEGNA · Tysons Corner, VA · 1 mo ago
$70k–$80k/yrFull-time

About the role

TEGNA Inc. helps people thrive in their local communities by providing the trusted local news and services that matter most. With 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets, TEGNA reaches more than 100 million people monthly across the web, mobile apps, streaming, and linear television. Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news.

Only candidates with experience in a journalism newsroom will be considered for this position.

TEGNA is hiring a Special Projects Producer who finds stories in data and can make the data easy to understand. The ideal candidate has investigative producing and data research experience. This position combines data analysis, research, and verification with traditional show producing skills, serving as a critical role in ensuring accuracy, depth, and credibility.

In this role you will acquire, analyze, and validate information that powers data-driven reporting. You will conduct interviews with experts, write broadcast/streaming news scripts and online articles, and edit interviews with B-roll. You will work closely with Consumer, Health, and Investigative reporters to surface story ideas, provide evidence, and strengthen both breaking news and enterprise reporting. This is a highly collaborative position working with national content, product, and growth teams, as well as local reporters and producers. One day you may be leading a consumer-focused project and the next you may be working with the national content team on breaking or trending health news.
