Special Procedures Technologist — Cath Lab — The Jewish Hospital

Assist the Licensed Practitioner in fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and Neuro-Interventional procedures using sterile technique. Prepare, administer, and document medications and radiation exposure in compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, or facility policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and peripheral venous systems, adhering to exam protocols except when clinically necessary.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and providing instructions to ensure desired results, cooperation, and minimized anxiety.
  • Contact referring physician or appropriate medical personnel for clarification if there is suspicion the exam order is incorrect.
  • Utilize the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reporting, and document critical findings according to department policy.
  • Complete assigned tasks in an appropriate time frame.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health, adhering to all standards and policies, including compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to safety initiatives, infection control policies, and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Perform non-invasive vascular exams at a proficient level.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlation of vascular lab results with other hospital procedures.

Requirements

  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (required).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (required; preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association (preferred).
  • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) (preferred).
  • Certification in Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) (preferred).
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is performed).

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
  • 1 year of experience in radiology with surgery experience using CR (preferred).
  • Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
  • Training in Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
