Special Procedures Technologist — Cath Lab — The Jewish Hospital

About the Role

The Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist assists licensed practitioners in fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and neuro-interventional procedures using sterile technique. This role involves preparing, administering, and documenting medications and radiation exposure in compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, or facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and peripheral venous systems, adhering to exam protocols unless deviation is clinically necessary.
• Prepares patients for procedures by explaining the process and providing instructions to ensure desired results, cooperation, and minimized anxiety.
• Contacts referring physicians or appropriate medical personnel for clarification if there is suspicion an exam order is incorrect.
• Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reporting, and document critical findings per department policy.
• Completes assigned tasks within an appropriate timeframe for the situation.
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the mission and values of Bon Secours Mercy Health, adhering to corporate responsibility policies, including compliance with laws and reporting unethical or unlawful acts.
• Adheres to safety initiatives, infection control policies, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Performs non-invasive vascular exams proficiently.
• Demonstrates knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlation of vascular lab results with other hospital procedures.

Requirements

• Certification and registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (required).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (required prior to direct patient care).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (preferred).
• Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) (preferred).
• Certification in Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) (preferred).
• State licensure (preferred unless required by state).

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in radiology with surgery experience using CR (preferred).
• Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
• Training in Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
