Special Procedures Technologist- Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center IR Weekender - FT Nights

Full-time position at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), the flagship hospital distinguished for excellent patient care and medical expertise. CMC is the largest hospital in the region, serving as the only Level 1 trauma center and an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas, and liver. This role is benefits-eligible with a 36-hour workweek on a weekend nights schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7pm–7am). Sign-on bonus eligible based on qualifications.

About the Role

The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists in invasive Angio and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite. Responsibilities include surgical scrub and circulation duties, total patient care during and post-procedure, and maintaining patient comfort while in the Interventional Radiology area.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under physician direction.
• Explains procedures to patients and prepares them for the procedure.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
• Circulates during procedures and maintains patient comfort.
• Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
• Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamps as appropriate.
• Communicates necessary report information to holding areas or nursing units.
• Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records, and charges promptly and accurately.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineers for repairs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an institution accredited by an ARRT-recognized agency in Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of an accredited Radiology Interventional Program or ARRT/RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program.
• Registered and certified by the ARRT or RCIS.
• CPR certification required.
• Must meet all required elements of the competency checklist for the role.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in diagnostic radiology and 1 year in Interventional Radiology.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk while wearing 10–15-pound lead radiation protection aprons.
• Exposure to radiation, secretions, and blood.
• Works in confined areas.
• Requires normal vision, manual dexterity, and strong eye-hand coordination to operate equipment.
• Constant concentration required during procedures.

Pay

Pay range: $35.50 – $53.25 per hour.

Schedule

Weekend nights: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7pm–7am.
