About the role

The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists in various invasive and interventional procedures in the Interventional Radiology Suite. Duties include scrubbing and circulating during procedures, preparing patients, administering medications, maintaining patient comfort, and reporting necessary information.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.
• Explains the procedure to the patient and prepares the patient for the procedure.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
• Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.
• Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
• Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamps as appropriate.
• Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.
• Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records, and charges promptly and accurately.
• Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineers for repairs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency recognized by ARRT in Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of an accredited Radiology Interventional Program required or an ARRT/RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program.
• Registered and certified by the ARRT or RCIS required.
• CPR certification required.

Qualifications

• Education: 1 year in diagnostic and 1 year in Interventional Radiology preferred.
• Certification: ACLS preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of specialized radiography and fluoroscopic techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
• Confidence in handling radiation and maintaining patient safety.

Pay

$35.50 - $53.25 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
