Special Procedures Technologist
About the Role
Join TriStar Centennial Medical Center as a Special Procedures Technologist and play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients. You will work closely with physicians, assisting during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies, and ensuring accurate hemodynamic monitoring and recording.
Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac as well as peripheral angiographic studies.
- Monitor, record, and report any symptoms or changes in patient conditions to ensure safety.
- Provide accurate and detailed documentation using the Hemodynamic Monitoring System during procedures.
- Assess, plan, and implement specialized care for each patient throughout their procedure.
- React quickly to emergency situations, including responding to STEMIs within 30 minutes when on-call.
- Offer hemodynamic monitoring assistance, applying your understanding of valve areas and pressures.
- Prepare patients for their examinations or treatments and assist the medical team as needed.
- Communicate important pre- and post-procedure education to patients and their loved ones.
- Share knowledge with peers and take an active role in precepting new team members.
- Participate in departmental continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain expertise by pursuing continuing education to stay current in daily duties.
- Uphold facility Standards of Performance and ICARE values.
Requirements
- Current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or be ready to complete this advanced registration within one year of hire.
- Alternatively, a current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and licensed through the ARRT as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)].
- Current license or registry as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is also acceptable.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- ACLS training must be completed within 6 months of joining the team.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Cath Lab or EP Lab is preferred, though new graduates from RCIS programs will be considered.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, guests, physicians, and colleagues.
