About the role
Aids credentialed providers in diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in cardiac and vascular laboratories. Operates under direct supervision of a credentialed provider.
Responsibilities
- Maintains radiation safety and completes necessary administrative tasks for proper documentation and compliance.
- Performs quality assurance on x-ray equipment and protective garments/accessories, troubleshoots equipment issues, and initiates vendor service calls.
- Collaborates with hospital radiation safety officer for survey and compliance documentation.
- Familiarizes with IVUS machine, Site Rite ultrasound machine, and PACS image retrieval.
- Serves as scrub assistant or monitor/recorder for cardiology and radiology studies.
- Prepares and positions patients for invasive procedures.
- Assists with cardiovascular tests and records hemodynamic activity using specialized equipment.
- Obtains hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and device management.
- Operates Intra Aortic Balloon Pump as needed.
- Recognizes and alerts credentialed provider and team members regarding cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms.
- Administers intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under supervision.
- Prepares and maintains sterile fields using aseptic technique.
- Operates and maintains hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
- Provides basic and advanced life support, including defibrillation.
- Performs point-of-care tests on lab equipment like ACT, oxygen saturation, glucose, and ABG.
- Trains patients on procedures.
- Works on-call and responds within 30 minutes of call.
- Restocks supplies, maintains work area cleanliness, and assists with patient transportation.
Requirements
- Twelve (12) continuous months of cardiac cath lab, EP, and/or special procedures work experience within the last three (3) years.
- Current KP Coalition employees exempt from this experience requirement.
- Successfully completed an accredited radiologic technology program (ARRT).
- Hold one of the following certifications within 12 months of hire: RCIS, RCES, ARRRT-CI, or ARRRT-VI.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support within two (2) months of hire.
- Basic Life Support within one (1) month of hire.
- Continuing education to maintain registry.

- Ability to comply with departmental policy for 30-minute response time for after-hour calls.
- Experience in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Two (2) years of recent EP, interventional cardiac, and/or vascular lab experience.
- Recent angio/cath lab experience.
- Organizational skills, time management, prioritization, attention to detail, problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, technical skills, initiative, communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, organizational relations.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
