About the Role
The Special Procedure Nurse provides direct patient care and practice management support in a procedural unit, working under the supervision of department leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pre- and post-procedure assessments, monitoring, and intra-procedural care for specialties such as GYN Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Oncology, and GI procedures.
- Support procedural flow by organizing resources and ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Perform nursing procedures including IV placement, medication administration, wound care, and EKGs.
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure confidentiality.
- Monitor patient conditions, communicate data to the care team, and administer medications as ordered.
- Maintain safety standards, participate in staff education and quality initiatives, and foster collaborative relationships.
- Assist with oncology care coordination and community resources.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active RN license in Massachusetts.
- BLS certification.
- 3+ years of relevant medical/surgical or ambulatory nursing experience; ACLS may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree.
- EPIC EMR experience.
