About the Role

Observes, evaluates, and coordinates the care given to patients in the Special Procedures department. Participates in direct and indirect care of all related activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues.
• Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes.
• Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
• Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes.
• Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
• Connects electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and alerts the doctor of any changes in patient condition.
• Records and analyzes hemodynamic parameters and calculates shunt, valves, and other data.
• Monitors patient, analyzes electrocardiogram (EKG) and hemodynamic parameters, and reports to the physician any changes in patient’s condition.
• Operates the computerized MIDAS system with accuracy and evaluates and reports significant data and findings throughout all procedures for patients of various age groups.
• Operates other specialized equipment: Datascope Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Baxter Cardiac Output, Automated Coagulation Timer (ACT) machine, American Optical Unistat Oximeter, Medrad injector, Life Pak, Defibrillator, Sony digital systems, GE Advantx X-ray system.
• Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.
• Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members.
• Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification: Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Registered Nurse experience with critical care experience or medical-surgical or experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedure department: Preferred
• Advanced Electrocardiogram (EKG) certification: Preferred

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $55.83 to $76.57 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
