Special Procedure Nurse, Infusion Therapy, In-House Registry, Days

About the role

This position is a 100% onsite opportunity at UChicago Medicine's Orland Park clinic. It supports the Infusion Therapy team under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Provides technically complex and high-risk nursing care services including sedation, intravenous infusions, and complex procedures such as lumbar puncture and cardiac catheterization.
• Maintains nursing equipment and work areas in proper working condition and reports malfunctions to the appropriate person.
• Accurately completes patient assessments, documentation, and interpretations for each patient encounter.
• Maintains adequate inventory control of necessary supplies and ensures emergency equipment is available and in good working order.
• Rotates to clinical areas as directed to assist in safe staffing ratios and transports sedated patients to appropriate areas within the hospital.
• Interfaces with customers in a professional, positive, and accommodating manner, demonstrating knowledge of AIDET principles.
• Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate actions and initiates appropriate life-supporting interventions while communicating with physicians.

Qualifications

• RN Required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• 5+ years clinical experience

Sound professional judgment, knowledge of age-specific considerations in care, ability to handle confidential information, and proficiency in clinical and research procedures.
