Special Handling Technician

Responsibilities

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Operates industrial equipment, included but not limited to forklift
• Performs general labor throughout the facility to preparing materials for the incineration process
• Ensures the safety of him or herself as well as those around them
• Performs manual tasks such as cleaning up spills when necessary while taking all safety precautions necessary to prevent injury
• Handles hazardous waste handling, including bulk sampling, drum decanting, liquid pumping, tanker cleaning, and confined space entry (CF Space)
• Performs bucket drops, Rotary kiln operations, and baghouse maintenance and line cleaning
• Handles sulfide materials with variable pH (low/high), which are both air- and water-reactive
• Rotates in Ty-Vac suite on 1-hour in/1-hour out shifts due to heat and workload

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent- required
• Forklift operation
• Highly Labor-Intensive work wearing a Tyvek / Tychem suits and respirator the majority of your shift!
• Ability to work in team environment
• DOT Training
• Proficiency in Windows based applications
• Climb on and off forklifts
• Ability to perform multiple tasks
• Lifting up to 50 lbs. from the ground to your waste
• Climb up and down vertical ladders
• Capable of reaching out, over and down exerting a force
• 20/20 eyesight corrected or uncorrected - depth perception is critical
• 10 pushups, deep knee squats and sit-ups (to determine if fit)
• Good hand/eye coordination
• Valid Driver's License required
• Punctuality and attendance required
• Respirator fit test upon hire- clean shaven face required (mustache okay!)
• Background check, drug screen and physical- required
• Updated resume including most recent employer required for consideration
