Special Events Staff
About the role
The City of Sunnyvale seeks self-motivated, energetic, and responsible individuals to assist with special events operated by the Library and Recreation Services Department. Responsibilities include setting up and taking down events, managing interactive areas, ensuring participant safety, and supporting the Event Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Follow event plans and execute assigned duties effectively
- Set up and tear down overall event
- Monitor or manage interactive event areas such as arts & crafts stations, games, and sports activities
- Oversee event participants to ensure proper safety measures are followed
- Aid the Event Coordinator with day-of duties and support
- Collect equipment after the event and properly store items
- Attend assigned special events to observe and document operations
Requirements
Position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping. Near and far vision is necessary for reading reports and using a computer. Acute hearing is required for personal customer service. Lifting, dragging, and pushing objects up to 10 pounds is also required.
Qualifications
Minimum age is 16. Availability to work evenings and weekends is mandatory. Must possess and maintain a valid class C California driver’s license with a safe driving record or alternative transportation approved by the hiring authority. Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Farsi is desirable. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently or in teams is required. Experience working directly with the public in a recreation, hospitality, or education setting is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.
