Special Education Tutor (In-Person - Newburgh, NY)

Tutor Me Education is a leading educational service provider dedicated to connecting passionate, certified educators with school partners and local communities. We partner with school sites to provide direct, targeted instruction that helps students overcome learning obstacles, build confidence, and achieve academic success. We are seeking dedicated, certified Special Education Tutors / Instructors to provide direct, high-impact in-person educational support to students at local school sites in Newburgh, NY. In this role, you will deliver tailored 1:1 or small-group instruction adapted to each student's unique learning needs, IEP goals, and academic requirements. We are looking for empathetic educators who excel at creating structured, supportive learning environments where students feel encouraged to thrive.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized 1:1 or small-group Special Education instruction aligned with student IEP goals and curricular standards
• Differentiate learning materials and techniques to support diverse learning styles, cognitive abilities, and behavioral needs
• Track student attendance, engagement, and academic progress throughout each assignment
• Maintain positive, professional communication with school site contacts and program coordinators
• Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured learning atmosphere

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certification (Required)
• Proven experience working with students receiving special education services in a school, clinical, or formal tutoring setting
• Strong classroom management, lesson adaptation, and student engagement skills
• Reliable transportation to travel to assigned school locations in Newburgh, NY
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Requirements

• Ability to commute to/from Adelanto, CA REQUIRED
• Must clear FBI-DOJ background check that is taken in-person
• Previous tutoring/teaching experience highly preferred
• Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting
• Negative TB Test Result

Pay

$25.00 - $35.00/hour

Schedule

Tentative school-day hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM); specific days and session schedules communicated upon assignment
