Special Education Teaching Assistant

Duties And Responsibilities

• Sets up and assists with daily operations of the Special Education Program.
• Supports students in small groups or 1:1, assisting with assignments, homework, projects, and adapting materials.
• Teaches students how to follow classroom rules and reinforces these rules.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring student behavior and implementing behavior management strategies.
• Assists students in developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors.
• De-escalates student behaviors and collaborates with General Education Teachers and Special Education Team Members.
• Supports students with transitions and activities, personal hygiene needs, and mobility and adaptive equipment.
• Provides general clerical support for the ESS Team.
• Attends meetings and training sessions.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

• High school degree or higher.
• Experience in special education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• An interest in reading great books.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates hold an associate's degree or higher.
• Associate degree (preferred) or two years/60 credit hours of higher education or a passing score on an appropriate ADE assessment.

Pay

Hourly compensation range: $16-$18

Schedule
