Instructional Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports students in small groups or 1:1
- Aid students with assignments, homework, projects
- Understand and adapt materials to help students learn
- Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions
- Implement behavior management strategies
- Support students with social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors
- De-escalate student behaviors and seek support from General Education Teacher and Special Education Team Members
- Reinforce SDI concepts
- Support students with transitions and activities
- Assist with personal hygiene needs such as toileting, feeding, and dressing
- Provide support with mobility and adaptive equipment
- Offer general clerical support for the ESS Team
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- High school degree required
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience in K-12 Special Education

- Ability to manage and monitor student behavior
- Knowledge of classroom rules and procedures
