Special Education Teacher (TOTS)
What You'll Do
As a Special Education teacher for our preschool program, you will design and implement classroom program under the guidance of the director in alignment with the NYS Education Department mandates and NYC Department of Education’s regulations. You will design a classroom environment that is both motivating and stimulating for students.
Responsibilities
- Provide weekly written plan to the administrator electronically
- Design lesson plans based on the Units of Study, Creative Curriculum, and the diagnostic information from the IEP
- Maintain periodic progress reports (Gold Teaching Strategies)
- Attend CPSE/CSE meetings at appropriate time intervals during the school year
- Implement behavioral system based on the Positive Discipline policy and PBIS
- Assure daily attendance records are maintained and submitted appropriately throughout the school year
- Submit Progress reports and annual reports at appropriate times throughout the school year
- Attend staff and classroom meeting and parent teacher conferences
- Assure that all students are supervised at all times in a safe, clean environment
- Attend 4 staff developments days throughout the school year
- Establish and maintain a respectful work environment with co-workers, parents, and visitors to the program
- Supervise classroom staff assigned to your classroom
Requirements
- Master’s and be certified or be working on a study plan toward certification
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Qualifications
- Experience in early childhood education
- Knowledge of special education teaching methods
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and caregivers
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay
$60,000-$85,000 (depending on experience)
