Special Education Teacher-Team Leader

About the role
This full-time, academic-calendar position (185-205 days) is based at the Partnership Learning Academy in Terryville, CT. EdAdvance offers a teaching environment free from many common constraints, with well-staffed schools, low student-teacher ratios, and small caseload sizes, allowing teachers to focus on instruction. The role is eligible for the Teachers' Retirement Board (TRB).
Responsibilities
- Provide academic instruction and support for students enrolled in an outplacement educational program, serving students with social-emotional difficulties and communication and behavior challenges.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students.
- Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions.
- Write IEP goals, complete achievement evaluations, and interpret results to propose services and instructional needs.
- Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active Connecticut Certification in Special Education (Endorsement #: 065, 165, 265, or 113).
- At least 3 years of recent teaching experience in a school setting.
- Proficiency in all modules of CT-SEDS.
- Experience working with students who struggle with regulating behavior and social-emotional responses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and therapeutic holding as required.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
- Well-versed in Special Education procedures and regulations.
