Job Responsibilities

• Affords students an individualized classroom program through assessment and planning
• Designs and implements activities aligned with Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Develops and delivers an education program tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities
• Fosters a classroom environment that addresses both academic and social-emotional needs
• Assists students in setting realistic educational and career goals
• Maintains attendance records and prepares relevant reports
• Provides support and consultation to students outside of the classroom
• Supports general education class assignments and assists with student work
• Collaborates with regular classroom teachers and staff for student evaluations and recommendations
• Communicates with parents, professionals, and administrators about student progress
• Coordinates and supervises work experience and job training programs for students with disabilities
• Engages in ongoing professional development and growth
• Serves as a supervisor for Teacher Aides

Job Qualifications

• Holds a valid NYS Special Education/Exceptional Education teaching certification for appropriate age groups
• Displays a positive outlook and strong work ethic
• Works effectively in team settings
• Is kind, caring, and supportive towards students
