Special Education Teacher (SY 2026-27)

About the role

Capital Preparatory Schools is seeking Middle & High School Special Education Teachers for the SY 2026-27 academic year. Located in Harlem, NY, this position supports a year-round, college-preparatory education for students in grades 6th - 12th.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, effective, student-centered learning environment that fosters student curiosity.
• Motivate students to put forth their best efforts in academics, athletics, activities, and personal conduct.
• Support students to recognize their full potential in all areas of human development.
• Build a bridge of communication and involvement with parents, families, and community leaders.
• Analyze data and use it to inform and drive instruction.

• Three years of teaching experience (preferred).
• Experience in analyzing data to drive instruction.
• Commitment to student engagement and student success.
• Bachelor’s degree, Graduate degree preferred; NYS certification preferred, commitment to achieve certification required.

Benefits

Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive salaries. First-year Illuminators (teachers) receive a salary range from $64,560 for non-certified bachelor's degree holders to $79,200 for those with a master's degree and certification. Salary is commensurate with years of lead teaching experience, education level, and certification status.
