About the role

The Support Center provides services in academic instruction to students with a variety of disabilities ranging from severe to profound. Instruction includes academic subjects and a modified curriculum that may incorporate functional academics, daily living skills, prevocational/vocational skills, behavior skills, and social skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction tailored to students' needs
  • Implement a modified curriculum that supports various skill sets
  • Work collaboratively with other educators and support staff
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction as necessary

Requirements

  • Hold or be able to obtain a teaching certificate with OSPI, including the appropriate endorsement
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of special education principles and practices

Skills

  • Effective teaching strategies
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes

In addition to instruction in academic subject areas, the program also offers modified curriculum instruction which may include a combination of the following: functional academics, daily living skills, prevocational/vocational skills, behavior skills, and social skills.
