SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - SUPPORT CENTER
About the role
The Support Center provides services in academic instruction to students with a variety of disabilities ranging from severe to profound. Instruction includes academic subjects and a modified curriculum that may incorporate functional academics, daily living skills, prevocational/vocational skills, behavior skills, and social skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic instruction tailored to students' needs
- Implement a modified curriculum that supports various skill sets
- Work collaboratively with other educators and support staff
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction as necessary
Requirements
- Hold or be able to obtain a teaching certificate with OSPI, including the appropriate endorsement
- Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
Skills
- Effective teaching strategies
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes

In addition to instruction in academic subject areas, the program also offers modified curriculum instruction which may include a combination of the following: functional academics, daily living skills, prevocational/vocational skills, behavior skills, and social skills.
