Responsibilities
- Experience in the principles and application of Applied Behavior Analysis
- Strong teaching skills including co-teaching within an inclusive environment with an emphasis on students who are emotionally, behaviorally, physically and/or developmentally challenged
- Knowledge of VB-MAPP
- Demonstrate strong reading, written and oral language skills
- Communicates frequently with parents and team members
- Develop and present Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) during IEP meetings
- Complete progress reports and meet with classroom teachers and instructional assistants
- Conduct student evaluations as needed
- Show thorough knowledge and competent implementation of all student educational programs and behavior management guidelines
- Create and implement behavior support plans, collect and analyze data, and graph results
- Create and teach social skills curriculum within a group setting
- Supervise and train instructional assistants, ensuring fidelity of behavior support plans and curriculum applications
- Implement direct and explicit academic instruction across content areas, using multi-sensory teaching methods, differentiated strategies, and language-based techniques
- Use assistive/educational technology in the classroom for designated students
- Collaborate and co-teach with grade level classroom teachers, other special education teachers, and specialists
- Serve as the primary contact person for designated caseload, managing paperwork, conducting Team processes, and maintaining communication
- Utilize appropriate classroom management strategies, including a comprehensive positive behavior intervention system
- Gather and utilize various sources of information for progress monitoring and data-based decision-making practices
- Coordinate schedules to comply with IEP requirements and optimize resource use
- Consult with staff and administration on instructional and student issues
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and competent implementation of all student educational programs and behavior management guidelines
- Knowledge and experience in creating and implementing behavior support plans, data collection, summing, and graphing
- Ability to identify and create social skills curriculum
- Supervision and training of instructional assistants
- Implementation of direct/explicit academic and specially designed instruction
- Use of assistive/educational technology in the classroom
- Utilization of appropriate classroom management strategies
- Multi-disciplinary approach to gather information for progress monitoring
