About the role

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to special education students. This role includes planning and implementing individualized student programs, providing specialized instruction, and collaborating with general education staff to support student success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Provide specialized instruction and academic support
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
  • Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Valid California Special Education Teaching Credential (required)
  • Minimum one year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Special Education certification (preferred)
  • Compliance with all professional standards of practice
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)
  • Current TB screening, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
  • Current health certificate (if required)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • State Teacher Certification: Standard Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching (preferred)
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred)
