Special Education Teacher (Resource)
About the role
The successful candidate will provide direct instruction to students in the Resource program according to their Individualized Educational Programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students in the Resource program according to their Individualized Educational Programs.
- Work collaboratively with other special education teachers and support staff to ensure student success.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as necessary.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other professionals to support student learning.
Requirements
- Degree(s) required in major area of study.
- Maine Department of Education certification with a #282 endorsement.
- Experience related to the instruction of students of similar age and in the subject area(s) to be assigned.
- Demonstrated positive, professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Evidence of a strong desire to work with school-age youth.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage a diverse classroom environment and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
- Knowledge of current educational theories and practices relevant to special education.
- Passion for working with students who require additional support to achieve academic success.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
