About the role

The successful candidate will provide direct instruction to students in the Resource program according to their Individualized Educational Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction to students in the Resource program according to their Individualized Educational Programs.
  • Work collaboratively with other special education teachers and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other professionals to support student learning.

Requirements

  • Degree(s) required in major area of study.
  • Maine Department of Education certification with a #282 endorsement.
  • Experience related to the instruction of students of similar age and in the subject area(s) to be assigned.
  • Demonstrated positive, professional relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Evidence of a strong desire to work with school-age youth.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage a diverse classroom environment and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Knowledge of current educational theories and practices relevant to special education.
  • Passion for working with students who require additional support to achieve academic success.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
