Special Education Teacher – One-on-One Child Development

About the Role

Bright Pathways is seeking experienced professionals to provide one-on-one support to children in their home, school, daycare, or community. Instead of supporting an entire classroom, you'll work individually with a child, building a strong relationship while helping them develop communication, social, emotional, behavioral, and daily living skills for greater independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support tailored to each child’s strengths, challenges, and goals.
• Help children communicate their wants and needs more effectively.
• Teach social skills through games, play, and everyday interactions.
• Support children in developing friendships, taking turns, sharing, and participating successfully with others.
• Assist with emotional regulation and teach strategies for handling frustration, disappointment, or changes in routine.
• Teach independence in daily activities such as getting dressed, brushing teeth, completing homework, or following routines.
• Practice community skills like ordering food, grocery shopping, playground interactions, or recreational activities.
• Create engaging learning opportunities through play, crafts, books, outdoor activities, and child-centered experiences.
• Celebrate meaningful milestones, such as saying a new word, making a friend, or completing a task independently.

You’ll receive individualized goals for each child and ongoing guidance from experienced supervisors while using your creativity to make learning engaging.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with children who benefit from individualized behavioral, developmental, communication, or learning support.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Reliable transportation.
