Special Education Teacher of Record (SPED TOR)
About the role
The Special Education Teacher of Record (Sped TOR) at Excel Center Evansville Southeast plays a pivotal role in the educational success of students with disabilities. This position oversees and manages services and programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding students with disabilities. The Sped TOR works closely with instructional staff to provide guidance on accommodations and modifications to support the success of students with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
Curriculum Planning & Evaluation: Designs and implements curricula and assessments that meet academic standards and measure progress towards student mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Scholars.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Works with instructional team and students to develop compliant and comprehensive transition plans.
Compliance & Regulations: Maintains accurate and compliant student records (IEPs and 504s) and prepares documentation as required by law.
Guidance & Professional Development: Works closely with the school director and lead teacher to establish and execute school-wide objectives. Supports staff through professional development, training initiatives, and goal-setting processes.
Requirements
Experience: Bachelor’s degree in special education and a current Indiana Teaching Certification in Special Education-Mild and/or Intense Intervention. Previous experience with PowerSchool Special Programs is preferred.
Skills: Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suites including Google Classroom, and Student Information Systems. Previous experience with Synergy and PowerSchool Special Programs is preferred.

Qualifications
Master's degree in special education preferred.
Experience working with adult learners preferred.
Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Scholars preferred.
