Special Education Teacher Needed - Charleston, WV

Local pay: $45 per hour for a 35-hour work week. In-person position starting in the 26/27 school year.

About the role

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students from kindergarten through grade 12. This role involves a commitment to team participation in planning and implementing student programs, including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality special education services to students (K-12).
• Plan and implement student programs, including special instruction and tutorial assistance.
• Consult with general education staff to support student needs.
• Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Meet all federal, state, and local requirements for the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a teaching environment (preferred).
• State Teacher Certification in one or more of the following (preferred):
  • Standard Elementary Teaching
  • Standard Secondary Teaching
  • Standard Special Teaching
• Endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred).
• Current CPR certification (if applicable).
• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
• Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
