About the role

The Lowell Community Charter Public School is a vibrant community of 815 K1-8 grade students, families, and staff serving diverse communities of Lowell. Our school represents many nations including Central and South America, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia. We provide a comprehensive education to ensure students' success in high school and prepare them for college.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with general education co-teachers, teaching and grade-level teams, and other staff, especially the instructional support team, to plan, share student work, and ensure instruction aligns with identified curriculum and standards.
  • Maintain high academic and social-emotional expectations for all students in the class.
  • Provide specially designed instruction, develop accommodations and modifications, and offer language instruction or other interventions to facilitate learning.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals and ensure they are providing opportunities for students to access the curriculum.
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students; maintain compliance with all Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
  • Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons, and learning environment, including providing instruction within the regular classroom setting, resource setting, and/or small classroom setting.
  • Create a comprehensive learning program through formally and informally assessing student learning, which may involve developing alternative assessments.
  • Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Requirements

A licensed Moderate Disabilities-Special Education Teacher is sought. The ideal candidate should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • A valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License.
  • Experience working with students with moderate disabilities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing special education.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
