Special Education Teacher - Mendota Mental Health Institute

Position Summary

Serving as the primary school liaison with the patient’s family and/or guardian as appropriate. Instructional delivery is consistent with the Wisconsin Academic Standards for patients not yet graduated from high school.

Planning and delivering instruction as well as monitoring student progress for all instructional areas.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $30.00 and $35.76 per hour (approximately $62,400 and $74,400 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.

This position may receive supplemental (add-on) pay adjustments for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. This add-on ranges from $0.97/hour to $2.97/hour of additional pay, based on relevant credits and professional development actions, as allowed in Section A (4.12) of the Compensation Plan.

A 12-month probationary period is required.

Qualifications

• Licensure or eligible for licensure by the Department of Public Instruction in any general education studies up through grade 12 or Cross Categorical Special Education (2801).
• Eligible is defined as your license application is currently in progress with the WI Department of Instruction or you currently hold a license in one of the above categories in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
• Experience working with students with significant behaviors and mental health needs.
• Experience using trauma informed best practices which includes understanding the impact of trauma.

Pay and Benefits

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule/range 13/04.
