Special Education Teacher (Mathematics)
About the role
Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring Special Education teachers to join our growing High School this year! The school is a dynamic and successful charter school with four campuses and a sister school, BelovED, serving a diverse student body in Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City. We provide extensive teacher supports, including career‑long coaching and professional development from school leaders, professional learning communities (PLCs) for lesson planning and problem solving, abundant planning periods during the school day, a research‑based curriculum with supporting materials, high‑quality formative assessments aligned to the curriculum, and full‑time reading and math specialists, counselors, and social workers to meet scholars' diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Follow a push‑in/pull‑out model to support Special Education students in Mathematics classes at the high school level.
Requirements
- Hold a New Jersey Department of Education CE, Limited CE, CEAS or Standard Certificate in Special Education (TOH or TOSD).
Qualifications
- Mathematics certification or experience is preferred and may be required.
- Special Education certified teachers are eligible for a $3,000 bonus.
- Certified Math teachers are eligible for a $7,500 bonus.
Pay
- Base salary for SY26/27: $70,000 – $100,000.
- Additional bonus, stipend and raise opportunities are available.
Schedule
Hours: 7:15 am – 3:05 pm, Monday‑Friday.
