Special Education Teacher - Learning Support - WASHS

The Waynesboro Area Senior High School is seeking a Special Education Learning Support Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

About the role

The WASD is looking for a strong candidate with background knowledge and experience working with a diversified population of learners who have varying disabilities. Applicants must have a strong desire to work with learners who are challenged with academic and behavior needs. The district is interested in teachers who will work in teams to support our neediest students.

Responsibilities

• Work in teams to support the needs of neediest students
• Provide instruction and support to learners with varying disabilities
• Collaborate with other special education staff and general education teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Assess and document student progress towards IEP goals
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities

Requirements

• Special Education PA certificate
• School-based experience
• Valid PA certification (or the ability to obtain certification as per PDE guidelines)

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work with learners who are challenged with academic and behavior needs
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Effective communication skills
