Special Education Teacher – Non-Public School | Tacoma, WA Whether you’re new or experienced, there’s a place for you here. Lilac Learning Center is growing our Tacoma site, and we’re adding a Special Education Teacher to the team. New to teaching? You’re exactly who we’re looking for. New and recently credentialed teachers are encouraged to apply, and you’ll get the training, mentorship, and day-to-day support to do this work well. Bring ABA experience and a SPED license? Even better. Your background won’t go unnoticed here. You’ll have room to mentor our Behavior Technicians, step into classroom leadership, and help shape how our Tacoma program grows. Either way, you won’t be on an island. You’ll work side by side with an experienced Special Education Teacher, BCBAs, and Behavior Technicians in a setting that blends education and ABA. We keep caseloads conservative on purpose, so you can focus on your students. About Our School & Program Lilac Learning Center is a Non-Public School serving autistic students and neurodivergent learners ages 5–22. Our program pairs special education with ABA, with an emphasis on individualized instruction, dignity, and safety. Our culture is warm, a little nerdy, and serious about getting better at what we do. Year-round school settingOn-site in Tacoma – not a remote position What You’ll Do Instruction & Student Support Get to know each student and build learning environments that fit themPlan and teach alongside your team, and adjust as students growSupport students through hard moments, including physical management procedures when needed (training provided) Team Leadership Coach and guide the Lead Technicians and Behavior Technicians in your classroomShare day-to-day responsibilities and keep student procedures consistent Family & Program Support Keep parents and caregivers in the loop on student progressContribute to curriculum as our program growsPitch in on classroom and facility upkeep and other duties as assigned What We’re Looking For A current Special Education licenseClear written and verbal communicationGood organization and steady problem-solvingComfort working independently and as part of a teamSound judgment, openness to feedback, and respect for the chain of command Even better if you bring: Previous ABA experience No classroom experience yet?
