Special Education Teacher - Emotional Support

About the role

The Teacher - Special Education position is established to provide an appropriate individualized program in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process.

Responsibilities

• Serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living.
• Supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas.
• Developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
• Collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues.
• Responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.

Requirements

• Valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education.
• Dual certification in special education and content area(s) preferred.
• Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer and computer programs.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Possess strong organizational skills.
• Able to function independently.
• Flexible and reliable.
• Experience working with students who receive emotional support services is preferred.
