SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - DEAF / HARD OF HEARING (SPLIT ZEIGER 0.8 FTE/BALLOU JH 0.2 FTE)

About the role

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to support student learning.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other special education meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching license with appropriate endorsements.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of sign language and/or use of assistive listening devices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support student learning.
