About the role
This position is located at McAuliffe Elementary School and is part of the Center-Based Classroom (Setting III ASD/DCD) program for the 2026-2027 school year. It is a full-time (FTE 1.0) position with a salary range of $55,951 - $88,905 per year, which is benefit eligible.
Responsibilities
- Leads and directs the implementation of students' Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior management plans, including communication with problem-solving and proactive academic, behavioral, and functional skill planning.
- Conducts assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues and recommend corrective procedures.
- Participates in Child Study Review Team discussions and assists in developing IEPs for students.
- Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions as needed.
- Accomplishes professional development by attending seminars, workshops, and professional meetings, and by maintaining relationships with higher education institutions and the business community.
- Organizes and maintains accurate and complete records as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with parents, students, staff, and administrators.
- Collaborates with a team of professionals to meet the needs of students and provides direction to paraprofessionals.
- Maintains strong written and verbal communication skills and manages daily record-keeping and due-process tasks.
Qualifications
- Certification: K-12 Minnesota teaching licensure in special education.
- Prior experience teaching special education at the appropriate grade level and disability domains preferred.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline relevant to the teaching assignment.
- Successfully completed Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) de-escalation training provided by the district.
