Special Education Teacher

Primary Duties & Essential Functions

• Deliver the primary instruction to students as scheduled
• Prepare lesson plans and instructional material based on the New York State Standards
• Evaluate and recommend instructional material
• Evaluate and record academic progress of each student
• Maintain and follow the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each classified student
• Maintain and follow the Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) for each student
• Create and maintain a safe learning environment within the classroom
• Assess and record program outcomes on agency database
• Assigns tasks and monitors performance of teacher aide
• Initiate communication and consultation with other staff in response to student concerns
• Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with all agency staff
• Develop supportive and nurturing relationships with students while consistently reinforcing program expectations
• Participate fully and effectively in school meetings or teams including Committee on Special Education meetings, Department meetings, and teacher meetings
• Manage and maintain classroom resources

Pay

$55,000- $65,000 per year
