Responsibilities

  • Lead a collaborative team and manage all aspects of your classroom environment.
  • Provide tailored instruction to meet each student’s unique needs.
  • Coordinate with professionals from various disciplines.
  • Serve as the case manager responsible for overseeing the progress and support of your assigned students.
  • Establish and monitor individual casebooks, data collection and charting systems.
  • Manage behavioral challenges.
  • Serve as the case manager responsible for overseeing the progress and support of your assigned students.
  • Supervise and manage activities of aides assigned to the classroom.
  • Affirm appropriate curriculum is established and implemented.
  • Organize an effective classroom environment.
  • Administer appropriate and effective instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with families and external service providers.
  • Demonstrate professional knowledge of children with developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrate professional writing skills.
  • Assure deadlines are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education required, Masters degree in Special Education preferred.
  • NYS Special Education Permanent certificate or Students with Disabilities certificate or actively working toward certification.

Education Required
