About the role
Uplift Michigan Online School is searching for a Teacher of Special Education. This role requires a residency in Michigan and a teaching certification in the assigned area.
Responsibilities
- Consistently plan and deliver lessons aligned with student IEP goals and student learning styles.
- Host and facilitate IEP, REED, MET, and MDR meetings for students on your caseload.
- Track student progress and update goal progress in EdPlan.
- Create lesson plans that are in harmony with students' learning styles.
- Support students during weekly advisory sessions.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure consistency of special education support.
- Maintain timely, complete, and accurate student records (i.e., Skyward and CAT).
- Ensure your classroom is conducive to learning – one that is safe and nurturing for all students.
- Communicate with parents via various means including phone, text, email, Skyward, face-to-face conferences, written correspondence, or other means.
- Perform other duties and tasks as directed by School Administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required and Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area.
- Dual certification in RX and MB or MA is highly preferred.
- Physical demands include regular talking and hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Frequent lifting and moving of items over 50 pounds is required.
Qualifications
- Experience with special education students.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers.
- Strong organizational skills to manage student records and progress.
- Effective communication skills to interact with parents and students.
Skills
- Knowledge of state standards and Uplift Michigan Online School curriculum.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Proficiency in using educational technology tools.

Pay
Salary position that requires 40 hours plus, if necessary to complete required tasks.
Schedule
Full-time, remote position with work between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, and additional hours as needed.
