About the role

The Teacher of Special Education at Uplift Michigan Online School is responsible for delivering high-quality education to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). They must have a Michigan residency and teaching certification in the assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with student IEP goals and state standards.
  • Review and write IEP goals and communicate necessary accommodations.
  • Host and facilitate IEP, REED, MET, and MDR meetings for students on your caseload.
  • Track student progress and update goal progress in EdPlan.
  • Create lesson plans that align with students' learning styles and ensure consistency and balance.
  • Support students during weekly advisory sessions and collaborate with general education teachers.
  • Maintain timely, complete, and accurate student records (Skyward and CAT).
  • Ensure the classroom environment is conducive to learning and safe for all students.
  • Communicate with parents about their child's performance and progress via various means.
  • Perform other duties as directed by School Administration.

Requirements

  • Mi Residency And Teaching Certification Required
  • In-person commitments are a requirement, including State Testing, field trips, professional development, and graduation.
  • Dual certification in RX and MB or MA is highly preferred.
  • Physical demands include regular talking and hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The ability to lift and move items over 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area.
  • Pre-service experience, as required for certification.
  • Dual certification in RX and MB or MA is highly preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to model lifelong learning and provide effective instruction.
  • Experience in designing and executing daily plans for teaching students.
  • Proficiency in using technology tools to track student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with students, families, and colleagues.
