Full-time, probationary appointment for a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom at Cosgrove Middle School.
Requirements
- New York State teacher certification in Special Education for grades 6-8
- Successful prior teaching or student teaching experience
- Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member
- Technological proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Committee on Special Education process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring
- General knowledge of elementary and secondary curriculum and instruction
- Experience providing special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment
- Experience developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons, and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs
- Experience establishing and maintaining open communication with parents, students, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders
