Special Education Teacher

The ideal candidate for this High School Teacher position at RMA is passionate about education and committed to supporting students' growth and development. They must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A valid teacher certification appropriate for the grade level and subject area, as required by federal, state, or local regulations.
• Prior experience or formal training in working with “at-risk” students is preferred.
• A proven ability to interact politely and professionally with a diverse range of constituents, including parents, students, and staff.
• An ability to effectively educate and manage students from various backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
• Experience in handling conflict and maintaining a sense of humor.

Responsibilities

Implementing the school's mission and educational standards, enforcing student conduct policies, protecting students and school property, maintaining accurate records, and continuously improving professional skills.

• Attending staff meetings and serving on committees.

• Creating an effective educational environment by working with other staff.
• Planning and delivering lessons that meet students' individual needs.
• Creating an engaging and orderly learning environment.
• Using positive behavior interventions.
• Auditing and evaluating the performance of educational assistants and volunteers.
• Assessing and documenting student progress.
• Addressing learning challenges with specialist support.
• Meeting the needs of special program students.
